Split category?

This category now lists phenethylamines and experience reports including phenethylamine. I think it should be two seperate categories. - LockPicker (talk) 20:59, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Inclusion criteria

There are currently quite a few less-than-orthodox "substituted phenethylamines" in this category. Among these are Baclofen, Fentanyl, Phenobarbital, Omberacetam, and Phenylpiracetam. They can be treated as a phenetnylamine in that they have a phenyl-C-C-N structural unit, but the substituents are, well, a lot more complicated than normal, being part of rings (as in phenylpiracetam) or doing most of the pharmacological job (as in fentanyl). 4 out of 5 of these do not have known effects on the monoamine system, something orthodox substituted phenethylamines are supposed to do. The inclusion isn't consistent either: if baclofen is in there, then why isn't phenibut?

We need to think about whether to include these things at all. And if we do, whether we need to single these less-orthodox ones out by some criterion of substituent complexity or pharmacological effect. --Artoria2e5 (talk) 11:32, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
