Interactions

Kratom can be made into a tea with other tea leaves to mask the bitterness while still receiving the effects. The alkaloids in kratom are more water-soluble when reacted with an acid, but that will make the tea sour; however, just making the tea with this method has not shown much of a noticeable difference in potency.

Materials

  • Powdered kratom at whatever dose is preferred (3g is sufficient for a single cup)
  • Small pot
  • Tea leaves (mint works very well)
  • Coffee filter

Steps

Step 1: Boiling the water

Put about 0.75 cup for every 2.5g of kratom in the pot and heat until boiling. Reduce heat to medium low (just boiling).

Step 2: Boiling the tea

Kratom is put into the water along with tea leaves and stirred until no clumps remain. The tea is stirred every 3-5 minutes to make sure nothing sticks to the bottom of the pot and the tea is boiled on medium low heat for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Filtering the solids

The pot is removed from the burner and the tea is poured through a coffee filter. The liquid is the tea and the solids are put back in the pot and steps 1-3 are repeated with 0.25 cups of water per 2.5 grams of Kratom. This removes remaining alkaloids from the kratom. This step can be repeated multiple times but 2 times seems to be sufficient.

Step 4: Disposing of the solids

After the last filtration, the solids can be disposed of or stored in an air tight container and frozen. After a large collection of depleted kratom is collected, it can be processed again to pull out some remaining alkaloids, but its more effective to just do an extract on it and boil it down to a concentrate.
