Recreational drug use is defined as the use of psychoactive drugs for the sole purpose of pleasure and recreation, such as partying. This is the most common form of drug use and is contrasted with spiritual use of entheogens and in psychonautic applications. Drugs more likely to be used recreationally include alcohol, dissociatives, opiates, stimulants, cannabis and MDMA. Psychedelics, for example, are much less likely to be used solely for recreation due to their powerfully introspective qualities.
