Talk:Ego inflation

Active discussions

++Idea++ --Customer of chemicals as such (talk) 00:41, 10 January 2020 (UTC) Should their be a discussion on whether or not ego inflation could be a positive effect? There is many sources already mentioned on how too high a dosage of the drug that causes ego inflation to occur can be hugely negative. However, it seems to me that it is possible that a low to moderate dosage could like someones confidence and, as pointed out in the ego inflation psychonaut page, could lead to ego inflation while not on the drug. It could be possible that ego inflation and the confidence produced could be positive and worth exploring, but the dangers of high dosage ego inflation are still to be serious and warned about.

For instance, constant use of ego inflation induced by a drug could cause ego inflation off the drug, and for many people this could result in higher confidence, self-esteem and social communication. For people with low confidence, self-esteem and especially in a social situation this ego inflation effect could be remarkably positive, improving depression, anxiety, feelings of worthlessness that all go with low confidence and low self-esteem. Possibly leading to someone becoming inspired to take leadership roles in society where they can help many similar people, not through the use of drugs - although would be great to research how this ego inflation effect could be used in the treatment of mental disorders and general low confidence.

I do not have any evidence of a positive effect other than logical critical thinking and the use of drugs that cause ego inflation. Possibly someone could help if they are inclined to support this idea.

@David Hedlund:

Good call, thanks for the message david. I changed "PCP" to "dissociatives" as is more general. I've seen this occur on a number of dissociatives that include the phenidine series so I decided not to limit it to arylcyclohexlamines. --Josikins (talk) 02:04, 30 November 2017 (CET)

@Josikins: Very good. Should deliriants also be mentioned (example: "such as alcohol, deliriants, and dissociatives."? --David Hedlund (talk) 02:40, 30 November 2017 (CET)

@David Hedlund:

I have never once heard of this effect occurring under the influence of deliriants, have you? If so can you please provide me some specific anecdotal examples. thanks! I'm completely open to adding it but i've just never heard of it. I'll ask a good friend of mine about this who is extremely experienced with deliriants, he runs a deliriant community so will definitely have a decent answer :)

@Josikins: No, but datura may increase egoism in other ways. So yes please ask your friend. Thanks. --David Hedlund (talk) 03:28, 30 November 2017 (CET)
