Passiflora incarnata is a member of the passionflower genus Passiflora. Originally Passiflora incarnata is native in the south-eastern parts of the US where it had been traditionally used by natives. Today it is spread and cultivated around the world. It is thought to have sedative, antioxidative and anxiolytic properties. Historically, the plant has been used as a herbal medicine and entheogen. It is nowadays used to to enhance dreaming because it is thought to be an oneirogen.
