History and culture
Nitazenes were first synthesized in Switzerland in the 1950s by Ciba, which was looking for an alternative to morphine. It was deemed too potent to be considered for medical use.
Chemistry
Nitazene and its other forms are members of the benzimidazole class of synthetic opioids.
Pharmacology
Its structure features a benzimidazole ring.
Toxicity and harm potential
Nitazenes can be up to 1,000 times more potent than morphine, but not much is known about its toxicity. It is strongly recommended that one use harm reduction practices when using this substance.
Legal status
Nitazene is a schedule 1 controlled substance in the United States of America.
